Ashley, Our special Angel up above, your 6th anniversary just passed and you would have been 21!! I remember all the talks on what you wanted to do when you turned 21, may all your wishes come true up in heaven, your there with your grandpa and i know he spoiled you rotten on your day!! Not a second goes by that we dont think or talk about you, you are loved more today than you were yesterday. What a beautiful young girl God chose to call home so very early in life, I still cant understand why, and can only trust that one day I will!! Never forget how much we love and miss you, Grandma KooKoo misses you sooooo much, please give her a little extra strenght baby girl. Can't wait to see you again, that is what I live for today.

Momma,

OMG doI miss you everyday of the week, month, year! I can not beleive it has been 3 years. I am so sorry for making you go to the hospital that day. But you kept falling down in the house and not able to get up on your own and not able to wake you up the next day. We will never know what happened that night in the ER, but I just pray to our LORD that it was what the nurse gave you.

Betty Mayes, 80, passed away at her home June 23, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Betty was born July 8, 1929. She had been the manager of H.L. Green Restaurant, a cook at Des Moines Tech School and most recently, she worked in housekeeping at Valley West Inn. Betty loved spending time with her family, helping tie fleece blankets, making Christmas candy and canning fruits and vegetables from her garden. She also enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles.

Betty is survived by her sons, William C. (Cindy) Kline, Sr. of Kansas City, KS, Fredrick (Kris) Mayes, Sr. of Des Moines and Lawrence Mayes, Jr. of Osceola, IA; daughters, Cheryl (Larry) Blood of Mitchellville, IA, Emily (Ron) Gerke of Des Moines and Laura (Rocky) Burill of Winterset, IA; 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, tw...
